As of last Friday, we’ve hit one week of my maternity leave part two. We have:
- Joined the Urbana YMCA, knocking out four gym workout days while Jack was in the kids’ center. The ladies there love him, and the gym/equipment is pretty new so we’re both happy being there!
- Taken three pilates classes, keeping up that part of my routine.
- Hung out with my mom a couple of times. She’s continuing to come every Tuesday and Thursday to help me and be with us!
- Celebrated Jackson turning seven months (SEVEN!!!!!) on Sunday. I truly can’t believe it. Didn’t I just have him yesterday?
- Taken a LOT of family walks on the trails around our neighborhood! Ballenger Creek has the best trail system–they’re wide and paved, which makes it easy for us with the stroller. The weather has just been incredible, want to be outside as much as possible.
- Cooked a lot of great dinners! I’ve made a salmon poke bowl (but wuth cooked salmon with a gochujang mixture), sausage ragú, white chicken chili, etc. Cooking good food is one of my favorite things to do, so I’m thankful to have had the time/energy to do it consistently.
Every day feels similar: Jackson eats, sleeps, and plays at around the same times. Which is the goal with babies! They need routine, but it can be mind-numbing sometimes. I’m thankful we’ve been able to stay active so much, working towards my goal of shedding some of the baby weight, so I do feel productive. And that boy is the happiest baby! So, I’m learning to love the same-ness. How lucky am I to get to have the same great days over and over and over again?
Cheers to spring, happy babies, and being a mom 🌸
